Encompass, ITUG, and HP Interex EMEA to unite.

As you may know MindIQ has been a supporter of the HP user community,
Encompass (www.encompassUS.org). In fact, our Senior Vice President, Nina Buik,
has served on the board of Encompass since 2005. There have been many recent
press announcements about the prospective consolidation of three of HP’s user
communities, Encompass, ITUG, and HP Interex EMEA creating a global community
of over 50,000 members. Here are a few recent articles.

ComputerWorld
Itwire
Network World
eWeek

There are many benefits to joining Encompass including monthly webcasts, local chapter
meetings, conference discounts, online resources, advocacy, special interest groups, and,
coming soon, a global social networking online community. We believe this ongoing education
is a perfect compliment to the training that MindIQ provides. So much so, that we’re making a
very special offer:

If you register for any of the following courses by March 31st, we’ll pay for your Encompass membership valid through the end of 2008!

Tech Tip

UNIX Tech Tip

Use ssh to log into a remote system without a password.

Being able to log into a remote system via ssh without giving a password opens lots of doors.
One can then automate backups via rsync, copy files, etc. But first things first:

  1. On the local machine, generate an ssh key pair by something like:
    ssh-keygen -t dsa -b 1024
Leave the passphrase blank for our first cut.
  2. In your $HOME/.ssh directory you'll now find files like:
    id_dsa id_dsa.pub
These are your private and public keys.
  3. Copy the public key file 'id_dsa.pub' to the remote machine.
  4. On the remote machine, copy the id_dsa.pub file from the local machine to
your $HOME/.ssh directory and rename it 'authorized_keys'.

You should now be able to log into the remote machine from the local one via ssh
without giving a password.

Now you can automate copying files with rsync with the rsh=ssh option.
You now can explore ssh-agent to be able to handle remote X sessions or
database connections.

But that's for another time.

The Introduction to Unix course was excellent. I really appreciate you guys having it even though I was the only attendee. That really said a lot to me!! Brent is an excellent teacher. He has a tremendous knowledge of Unix and was able to answer every question I had on the spot. I would highly recommend him as an instructor. Bottom line: I could not be more pleased with the course. Excellent job by you guys !!-

"I may not be “tech savvy” but I am “service savvy” and can recognize when a company is really providing service versus a sales pitch. Great job, MindIQ."

Joyce S. onlinerealestatereview.com

"Thanks again for the great training, and very nice facility. Your instructor did a fantastic job. Please pass on our thanks to him, and best wishes on his upcoming surgery. It shows commitment by an individual to come in and teach a class when they are themselves not feeling 100%."

Roger B - Radium

"What I liked best about the course was the knowledge and experience of the instructor and the real world examples he provided."

Kyle W. - atauga Medical Center

"This was a GREAT course (Introduction to OpenVMS) and the instructor was well prepared and knowledgeable."

Michael S. - USAF

"MindIQ training is the best. The effort to include everything we needed to learn was greatly appreciated by me. Many of the subjects in the training where already familiar because I have had OpenVMS training in the past. The content of you class however filled the holes in my knowledge. I am sure that the techniques and methods of instruction provided will allow me to do my work with greater confidence in my abilities."
